Six from existing suppliers and six from a brand new brewery to the UK – The Noguchi Naohiko Sake Institute!
I’m really excited about the edition of this brewery to the Tengu Sake portfolio. Noguchi-Toji is, literally, a living legend in the sake world. He first started making sake in 1949 and is now recognised as one of the Four Guardians of Heaven of the Noto Toji Guild in Ishikawa Prefecture and widely known as “The God of Sake Brewing”. His sakes are rich, complex & layered and he specialises in nama-jukusei (intentionally aged unpasteurised sake). I highly, highly recommend them.
‘Tis the season for namazake (unpasteurised sake) and we have three, fantastic namas from Tsuji Honten (Gozenshu brand). Fans of 2020/2021’s Prototype will be thrilled to see the final iteration of this sake: Evolution. The other two are also pretty special, and both seasonal so limited stock!
We also have two additions from Konishi Shuzo: Shirayuki Banzaimon – a premium offering from this Hyogo-based brewery, and Clear Sky – winner of IWC Honjozo Trophy 2020 and a real session sake.
Finally, a sakura (cherry blossom) themed bottle from the excellent Hayashi Honten.
