Kodakara Yuzu liqueur is made from the finest yuzu (a Japanese lemon/orange/grapefruit citrus) from Kochi Prefecture (located on the Pacific Sea side of Shikoku Island and famous for Yuzu).
It is a fresh and zesty style, (compared with the much richer and marmalade-like Gozenshu Yuzu) making for a wonderfully refreshing and thirst quenching drink. Especially when served ice cold, on the rocks or mixed with soda. Tatenokawa, the makers of this fine liqueur, also recommend drinking it hot in the winter.
The shochu base has the bonus of making the liqueur very stable. Once open it should last a good few weeks, if kept in the fridge.
Some more adventurous pairings, recommended by Tatenokawa are:
● Salt-Grilled Yakitori – The crisp, slightly sweet yuzu notes cut through the savory, smoky flavors, making each bite even more enjoyable.
● Salmon Carpaccio – The bright acidity of yuzu complements the rich umami of fresh salmon, while its citrus notes enhance the light and delicate flavors.
● Creamy Pasta – The zesty freshness of yuzu provides a delightful contrast to rich, creamy sauces, keeping your palate refreshed.
● Thai Curry & Other Ethnic Dishes – The vibrant citrus profile balances the richness of coconut milk and spices, creating a refreshing contrast.
Ingredients: Shochu, yuzu fruit juice (Kochi Prefecture), fructose, glucose
