MUGA Green is part of the seasonal MUGA series, released early in the brewing year. There are four in total: MUGA Platinum, MUGA Green, MUGA Red & MUGA Gold. MUGA Red and Gold are available later in the year.
The MUGA series is all about freshness! Made early on in the brewing year, and bottled on the day of pressing, the MUGA series is muroka nama genshu – unfiltered, unpasteurised & undiluted – and uses a special bottling method to limit exposure to oxygen. Expect some spritz on opening and a juicy, youthful & zingy style.
Of all the series, MUGA Green, made from local Dewasansan rice, tends to be the most shy and reserved. It’s still muroka nama genshu so expect that vibrancy & zest but MUGA Green has a very light nose compared to the others and an elegant subtlety, which makes it very refreshing and approachable.
The subtle aroma is fresh green apple, pineapple, muscat and mango. The palate is silky and quite sweet at first but finishes crisply with dryness; sweet apple, melon, pear & grapefruit are there. Subtle umami in the mid-palate.
Soft cheese, sushi, creamy dishes and citrus all pair well with MUGA Green.
If you’re here for fresh and exciting namazake (and let’s be honest, who isn’t?!) then the MUGA series is for you.
NB – namazake must be kept cold; please refrigerate until finished.
